artist statement

My goal with everything I make is to not only create something for others, but to also challenge myself in new ways with each project. My thesis will combine motion, branding, and investigation to create something that not only challenges my skill set and limits, but also serves as a culmination of everything I’ve learned over the past several years.

All my life I’ve been interested in design—whether I knew it or not. When I first graduated high school in 2010, I was drawn into the marketing program at the University of Northern Colorado, fascinated by the concept of guiding users through decision-making and purchases. At the same time, I began working on a visual communications degree that worked in conjunction with marketing, which is where I was first introduced to design. While I was interested in fine arts in high school and took several drawing and painting classes, design was a whole new genre that I’d never delved into before.

What I learned during my venture into marketing has made me passionate about solving problems and creating compelling designs that will move the user—whether through an emotional title sequence or by developing a brand that’s missing from the market. My passion for creating captivating work, coupled with my interest in technology and computers, has made me the designer that I am today.
