painting & drawing

The Painting and Drawing program takes a contemporary approach, integrating painting and drawing into a studio discipline that is as rich in visual arts history as it is charged with contemporary innovation.

Painting and drawing as a studio practice encourages a multi-faceted dialogue within this continuum. Students are introduced to a variety of techniques and ideas, exposed to art-historical and contemporary painting and drawing methods, and challenged to develop a studio process with both formal and conceptual impact.

thesis students

Painting and drawing classes are interdisciplinary and allow the use of multiple media and/or techniques in the production of a successful art piece or body of work. Students learn to perceive, read and translate the visual world into personal forms of expression and representation, develop a base of technical skill, integrating experimental painterly and drawing approaches with theoretical ideas.
